Rokuji

𝟏. 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

I‘m a charge of a section of Hirayu no Mori and where I have some restaurant. Today, I introduce “Rokuji”. This is a Izakaya, a Japanese pub and inn. This Izakaya opened last year. I was already working in Okuhida before, but when I knew this place was vacant, I decided to start the business here. The building, built in traditional Hida fashion, is over 100 years old. The location is great as we have hot springs and one of Shirakawa go Gassho zukuri house in the outside garden. Rokuji is a restaurant, but we offer accommodation as well.

𝟐. 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞

We offer products from both mountain and sea. It takes 300 yen to enjoy open-air bath. Usually, restaurants here in Okuhida offer local cuisine, but on the contrary, our specialty is to be able to offer various dishes. We are opened at night as well as an Izakaya.

You can stop here even without reservation and you can use the hot springs are outside. Our idea is that you can freely enter the hot springs, eat good food and take a rest.

𝟑. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬

Last year, most of our guests were from overseas. It was about 80% depend on the season. It's different this year because of COVID-19. Thankfully, there are quite a lot of local customers.

𝟒. 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬

I'm impressed that the foreigners who come here really appreciate the building and the cuisine. They are so passionate and grateful.

𝟓. 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤

At first, since we had a lot of foreign guests was a bit difficult, but now that we have staff who can speak English it's getting easier. Explaining the menu is still hard sometimes, but we are managing fine. On the contrary, this kind of job is fun and we are happy to be able to satisfy our guests.

𝟔. 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐦𝐚

I like the Takayama Matsuri no Mori and Risu no Mori above all.

You can see the Takayama festival floats at Tamayama Matsuri no Mori and interact with squirrel at Risu no Mori.

𝟕. 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬
