Tell us about the history of Ebisu soba and your specialty.

Nohi Bus operates convenient buses that connect Takayama and tourist spots, and sells set plans and tickets that let you enjoy sightseeing around the Hida area. There are many attractive tourist destinations around Takayama. We also make reservations
for highway buses. We provide several destinations such as "Shirakawago", the "Shinhotaka Ropeway" with a magnificent view of the Northern Alps and the hotspring area of "Okuhida Onsenkyo" and the "Gero Onsen". The majority of our customers come from overseas. Shirakawa-go is especially popular. During high season we have about 3 or four buses departing every hour. Our buses can accommodate up to 40 people.

Do you have a memory with a customer or an episode in particular that would you like to share?

We have customers from various countries, so sometimes it can be difficult to communicate. We do our best to understand customer’s needs. Recently, we are making origami at the reception and we also offer small lessons about making origami. We enjoy sharing and experiencing origami making with our customers.

Let us hear about a place you would recommend in Takayama

I enjoy walking around the old city center. It’s very relaxing. I would
also suggest trying out some of the street food there, it is delicious.

Why did you choose this job and what motivates you?

As I said before, to be able to communicate with customers and provide them with the best service possible is our goal. And we took pride and joy to see customers satisfied.

What parts of your job do you find most challenging?

After all, it is languages. We have customers from all over the world, so it can be difficult for us sometimes. For example, some customers come without knowing the schedule at all. At that time, we listen to our customers' wishes and advise them, but communicating in different languages can be challenging sometimes.

What do you provide for overseas customers?

For example, we made a map easy to understand. We highlighted all places that require a reservation as well as all the routes for the buses. Please take a look at the picture. We also provide a coin locker service. It is often used by customers.

What are the corona measures implemented by Nohi Bus?

There is a plastic label on the counter. We disinfect the buses after every course. We also limited the number of customers per bus by half. It is now only one customer per 2 seats.
