First-in-Japan double-decker gondolas will take you 2,200 meters above sea level. Enjoy the majestic vista of Japan's Northern Alps (Hida Mountain Range). Climbers can use the ropeway to begin their trek.

 

Suspension of Operation due to Maintenance Work from May 8 to August 9, 2023

To ensure the safe operation of the Shinhotaka Ropeway, the rail rope supporting the gondolas of the No. 2 Ropeway will be replaced over the next two years. Accordingly, we regret to inform you that the No. 2 Ropeway will not be in operation during the replacement work.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused during the suspension and appreciate your understanding.

Details are as follows:

 

1. Suspension Period

May 8 - August 9, 2023

Early May to early August 2024*.

*To be announced separately when details are finalized.

 

2. Suspended Section

Shinhotaka Ropeway No. 2 Ropeway (between Shirakabadaira Station and Nishihotakaguchi Station)

 

3. Other

Whether or not the No. 1 Ropeway (between Shinhotaka Onsen Station and Nabedaira Kogen Station) and the Shinhotaka Visitor Center’s Sangaku-kan remain in operation during the suspended operation of the No. 2 Ropeway is under consideration. Hotel Hotaka will be open.

December 1 to March 31: 9a.m. to 3:30p.m.
Open Daily: No scheduled closures, although ropeway may occasionally close for maintenance.
