Shinhotaka Ropeway (photo)

This course is recommended for those who want to enjoy nature and hot springs. 

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  1. JR Takayama Station
    Nohi Bus Center
    (1 hour and 45 minute bus ride (Hirayu/Shinhotaka Line: 2,160 yen one way))
  2. Shinhotaka Ropeway
    This ropeway with a total length of 3,200 meters contains the first ever two-story gondolas in Japan. These gondolas take visitors to the summit, 2,156 meters above sea level. One can see the grand vista of the Northern Alps from the observation deck at the summit. 
    (25-30 minute bus ride (Bus stop to get off at: Kuma-Bokujo-Mae))
  3. Okuhida Bear Park
    There are more than 100 bears including Asian black bears. Visitors can feed them, take photographs of them and watch bear shows. 
    (15 minute bus ride (Get off the bus at Hirayu Bus Terminal.))
  4. Hirayu Bus Terminal
  5. Hirayu Ōtaki Waterfall
    This waterfall measures 64 meters. Visitors can see the clouds of spray and thunderous waves.
    At Hirayu Bus Terminal, visitors can have meals and bathe in the hot springs while viewing the Northern Alps.
