Takayama Station, located at 22-2 Showamachi 1-chome, Takayama City, serves as the entrance to Takayama. The new station building was completed in 2016. 

There are two entrances/exits: East Exit (Norikura-guchi) and West Exit (Hakusan-guchi). Visitors can enter the station both from the east and the west. The skybridge which connects the gates inside the station building is open 24 hours.

The ticket gates are located on the second floor. There are also waiting rooms and shops on the second floor, so tourists can relax or shop while waiting for the train to arrive. Takayama Festival themed items are displayed on the skybridge. The lower halves of two full-size yatai floats are on exhibit. Visitors can see yatai wheels, decorations and builders’ tools inside the 14 showcases.

Hours (Ticket Office): 6:00 a.m. to 8:50 p.m. (as of November 1, 2017)

There is a cafe "i-cafe TAKAYAMA" (hours 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) on the first floor. Tourists can have a light meal, collect information on sightseeing in Takayama and book activities. Coin-operated lockers are next to the cafe and available 24 hours a day.
For those who are staying at Hotel Associa, there is a baggage delivery service from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Please note that this service is only available for those who are checking in the same day.)
