Takayama, winning the highest three stars rating from Michelin

> About Takayama City > Takayama, winning the highest three stars rating from Michelin

Takayama has acquired three stars in the Michelin tour guidebook which has been published for more than 80 years.

The main reason for this high rating is our “Old Town” (Sanmachi) where wooden buildings from the Edo Period are still used as houses and shops as well as the Takayama Festival and its floats.

“MICHELIN Voyager Pratique Japon” (2007), the first practical tour guide book about Japan from Michelin, gave its highest rating of three stars to Takayama as a must go destination.

In the “MICHELIN Green Guide Japon” (2009), Takayama was also awarded the highest rating of three stars as one of the 17 tourist destinations where it is worth travelling to.
