Getting around the town
One of the attractions of Takayama is its compactness; most of the town's sights are within walking distance. There are, however, ample transportation service to help you get the most from your stay.
Rickshaw
Unless it's raining, rickshaws based in San-machi Suji offer a ride around the old streets for \3,500 for two persons, or to certain museums (or the station!) for the same or a little less. Just a photograph? That's \1,000.

Bus Tours
Tours operate daily from Nohi Bus terminal. In addition to sightseeing, these tours include various activities and attractions, but please note that no English-speaking guide is provided. The cost includes entrance fees.

For the energetic, cycles are available for rent at \300 per hour and \200 per additional hour between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Taxi
Regular taxi services are available and taxis may also be hired for town or local sightseeing.
